Shop / funny team shirts for adults
The Ann Arbor T-shirt Company is composed of a talented team of artists, screen printers, art technicians, logistics professionals, embroiderers, and support staff, all operating out of Ann Arbor, Michigan (approximately 40 miles west of Detroit). As a company, we take pride in providing our employees with subsidized healthcare, a 401k match, company sports teams, catered lunches, and quarterly celebrations. We firmly believe that treating our staff with respect not only aligns with our values but also makes good business sense. Happy employees translate to better shirts - more creative artwork, higher quality prints, and more meticulous quality control.
From concept to completion, our people are passionate about the products we create and can't wait to share them with you. If you find yourself in Ann Arbor, please stop by for a coffee and a tour - we'd be delighted to show you how we bring our designs to life.
Our screen printing process involves several key steps. First, our skilled illustrators and designers craft the artwork. Art technicians then convert the designs into component screens (traditionally made of silk, hence the terms "screen printing" and "silk screening"). Experienced screen printers and their apprentices then carefully apply the inks through these screens using top-of-the-line M&R carousel presses manufactured in Roselle, Illinois. Finally, our warehouse team inspects the quality, bags, and boxes the apparel for distribution to fulfillment centers across the country.
When you purchase one of our shirts, your money supports a diverse network of American businesses and workers. Approximately 35% of the value is generated in Ann Arbor through design, printing, and production. Another 22% goes towards advertising and platform fees in Seattle, Washington. The remaining percentages are distributed to an apparel distributor in Cincinnati, Ohio (6%), logistics in Atlanta, Georgia (4%), printing press manufacturers in Roselle, Illinois (4%), cotton farmers in Texas and the Southwest (4%), fabric sewers in Toluca, Mexico (3%), and ink suppliers in Pineville, North Carolina (1%).
Screen printing is a delicate art, and it's easy to produce subpar results if you compromise on quality. That's why we invest in hiring, training, and retaining skilled professionals who understand the intricate interplay between ink chemistry, curing temperatures, and apparel fibers. We also use top-shelf QCM inks, which are more environmentally friendly, vibrant, and durable than cheaper alternatives. Lastly, our state-of-the-art M&R printing presses and support equipment allow our craftspeople to work efficiently, reducing waste and enabling us to offer high-quality products at competitive prices.
